We've all heard the term defensive driving. Perhaps you have attended a course yourself. Maybe you're like me and picked up to discard a ticket. Maybe you're more like my dad and used him to lower your insurance premium. You have to keep in mind that attending a course like this can be a real drain. You have to be very patient to enter. This is especially true if you think of it as “need” rather than “want”.
If the last time you chose a defensive driving course you were unlucky enough to pick a bad one, there is hope for you this time. If you've watched your last course and wondered aloud if defensive driving really should be that painful, I have good news: it isn't.
Thankfully, there's one company that makes defensive driving fun.Comedy defensive drivingdelivers solid content with a healthy dose of humor. Her approach makes you want more and makes you laugh a little in the process.
So if you're looking for a great place to take your defensive driving course with ease and humor, buckle up while we tell you a little more about these guys.
Why comedy defensive driving is different
First, let me point out the fact that time drags on if you pay attention. Texas defensive driving courses must be six hours long. Six. hours far away. Think of all the other things you can accomplish in six hours: you can detail your car, write a short story, renovate something, fix your roof, bake a cake, smoke a brisket, or any of a million other things.
There's an old saying that "a guarded pizza delivery boy never arrives". Okay, that's not a very old adage, but it will do for now. The fact is that when we wait for something to happen instead of doing something, time lengthens.
Think about it; When was the last time you had so much fun that you didn't even realize how much time had passed? What did you do? You probably took a defensive driving course, right? Zero record! It's a joke. You probably don't associate a defensive driving lesson with a lot of fun, but this course is an exception. Let's dive into the details and even the origins of this hilarious defensive driving course: Defensive Driving Comedy.
A little bit about weird defensive driving
Comedy Defensive Driving has produced more than three million defensive driving graduates since its inception in 1989. The company offers in-person and online courses. The online option is the one that people usually choose. This option is more convenient as you can start and stop at your own pace and don't even have to get dressed (unless you're using the local cafe's WiFi).
Like any startup, Comedy Defensive Driving started small, but unlike other companies that have grown this way, they've stayed that way. Comedy's Defensive Driving Teamconsists of seven members(if you countBorder Collie Friend). Keeping things intimate like this allows them to focus on what they do best. They are not mass-produced, so the quality of their content is much higher than average.
There are two states where this course is approved: Texas and Florida. That may be why other states can't contain the amount of hilarious filming of this course, but it hasn't been proven. While not the perfect course, it certainly has many strengths. Let's take a look, shall we?
What are people saying about weird defensive driving?
One of the reasons I admire this company is their transparency. The site claims that 93% of customers rate their experience 4 or 5 stars. Knowing that many people are skeptical about "taking our word for it," Comedy Defensive Driving publishes all company reviews in a searchable and sortable format. First, let's sort through the negative comments and take a look at what we found. Well, that might seem like an unconventional way to you (because it is) to explain why this course is so great through negative reviews. With that said, let's try anyway. It will make sense later (maybe!).
For some reason I start every product search this way. There are times when a 1 star rating is legitimate. Sometimes it's fun to read the ridiculous reasons people come up with to complain.
For example, the first negative review on the Comedy Defensive Driving website simply states:"I didn't like the course."Now that's a bummer! Let's analyze this criticism a little. No reason was given other than that this person did not like the course.
To be effective, communication needs to address two important things: the how and the why. How did you find the course? Why didn't you like it? It is difficult to judge the integrity of an opinion when the comment does not provide a frame of reference.
My favorite negative comment is possibly"N / D."AccordinglyThe Cambridge Dictionary, this abbreviation should be used "when you cannot provide a relevant answer to a question". So there is no real reason for the low ratings. I think they liked it.
Another 1 star gold rating says"It took too long..."Now that this course is required by LAW to be six hours long, it seems only fair for the reviewer to skip it on the defensive ride company. On the other hand, if he had followed any other law, he could have avoided the course altogether...
Changing ranking lists also led to interesting results. A 5-star review says:“The example images helped me, but I need an example for the left right foot screen. I don't understand... the content was excellent, fun and exciting. .."This is the perfect example of someone who knows how to appreciate something; They offered why they liked it as well as constructive criticism.
Here's an example of another 5-star review from a happy customer:"Have fun. Would step on the gas again."This perhaps misses the point of the overall defensive driving aspect of the course, but at least he had a lot of fun doing it!
How to do weird defensive driving?
The Golden Instructions for entering Comedy Defensive Driving have been kept secret by great defensive driving samurai for hundreds of years, and the only way to apply is... OK, just kidding.
Signing up for Comedy Defensive Driving is actually quite simple. In the first step, you select the reason for participating in the course, i.e. refusal of admission, only insurance or professional reasons. Then select the shipping method for your certificate. If you have time to wait, standard USPS delivery is included in the course price. If you arrive "on time" you can get your certificate the next day for $24.95 or printable for $7.95. The latter is only possible due to a recent change in Texas law. I wonder how much money FedEx and UPS have lost over the last few months since Texas finally decided to join us in the 21st century.
Once you've joined, completing the course requires you to watch a series of fun videos while answering a few questions. The course ends with a simple and uncomplicated final exam. Knowing what I know about the state permitting process, I was blown away by how much fun the Comedy Defensive Driving course was given the dry material they had to cover.
IMPORTANT NOTE:Whether you choose Defensive Driving with Humor as a course provider or another course, pay attention to the state recognition. We would hate it if you had to struggle to complete a course only to have your court reject it!(Video) Defensive Driving Demo | Comedy Defensive Driving®

I have a long and troubled history of defensive driving. At age 15, I attended my first “court invited” class and immediately realized there must be a better way. Since that first experience, I have personally taught defensive driving courses and authored four online courses in two states. With almost 25 years in the industry I can help you find the course that best suits your needs.
