general description
what's new
The 2022 Chevrolet Suburban is still fresh from last year's full design, but that hasn't stopped Chevy from racking up equipment upgrades. Lane departure warning and parking sensors are now standard on all models, with most models getting a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
The available surround-view camera system provides additional views of the trailer. The Z71 trim can get a new electronic locking differential, and reverse automatic braking debuts as an option on the Premier and High Country. Availability of the 6.2-liter V8 extends to RST, Z71 and Premier trims.
Choosing your Chevrolet Suburban
The mighty 2022 Suburban is once again available in six trim levels:LS, LT, RST, Z71, Premier y High Country.
Prices start at $54,595including destination and extends to $73,295 for High Country before options.
engine options
Most Suburban models come standard with a 5.3-liter V8 engine. Buyers also have access to a turbo diesel six-cylinder and a 6.2-liter V8.
The 5.3-liter is standard on all trim levels except High Country, where the turbodiesel serves as the base engine. Turbodiesel is available as an upgrade on others except the Z71. The optional 6.2-liter engine is offered on the RST, Z71, Premier, and High Country. A 10-speed automatic transmission is used across the line.
All-wheel drive is standard on the Z71 and a $3,000 option on other trims.

A seven-passenger layout with second-row captain's chairs is optional on LT, Z71 and RST models, and standard on Premier and High Country models. As you would expect from a vehicle of this size, the interior space is exceptional.
When all rows are full, the Suburban offers 41.5 cubic feet of cargo space. Folding down the third row opens up 93.8 cubic feet. With the second row folded down as well, the Suburban can gobble up 144.7 cubic feet of space, more than any other SUV on the market.

Every Suburban is equipped with lane departure warning, automatic high beams, distance indicators, rear parking sensors and front automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is $495 on this LS. So much space inside. The Chevrolet Suburban has always been one of the largest SUVs on offer, but the complete makeover for 2021 has resulted in the SUV being even bigger. At almost 19 feet long, few garages will be able to accommodate the Suburban. Buyers looking for an SUV that is easy to drive and park should look elsewhere.
Although the Suburban is difficult to drive, the result of an SUV this size is a huge cabin. The large SUV manages to be comfortable for all nine passengers, including those in the rear of the vehicle. Second-row passengers get up to 42 inches of legroom, while third-row passengers get 36.7 inches of legroom. The seats themselves are luxurious, especially when equipped with the second-row captain's chairs.
Of course, the resilience is just as impressive. The Suburban has one of the highest cargo capacities of any SUV on the market. The SUV offers up to 41.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row of seats, while folding down the third row of seats opens up to 93.8 cubic feet of cargo space. The SUV offers up to 144.7 cubic meters of cargo space behind the front seats.
powerful engines. chevroletoffers the Suburban with a trio of powerful engines. The standard engine is a 5.3-liter V8 with 355 hp. It might be the standard engine, but the 5.3-liter V8 doesn't feel like a compromise. The engine offers plenty of power to get the huge SUV out on the road.
For even more grunt, the 6.2-liter V8 engine is available. It is rated at 420 hp. Although the 6.2-liter V8 has the task of accelerating the Suburban, it does so with aplomb. For 2022, the 6.2-liter V8 is now optional on Z71, RST, and Premier trims.
We don't recommend trying to save money on gas with the Suburban, but if you feel the need to, the Duramax diesel engine is your best bet. The 3.0-liter turbodiesel only makes 277 hp but produces 460 pound-feet of torque, which is the same as the 6.2-liter V8. The diesel engine is said to get up to 23 mpg combined.
Towing capacity for the Suburban ranges from 7,400 to 8,300 pounds. It is an impressive number, but theFord-ExpeditionHe has slightly better numbers.
Impressively modern. The Suburban is packed with impressive, easy-to-use technological features that are just what you want when you're driving with eight people. The SUV comes standard with a 10.2-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, eight USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The standard infotainment system is easy to use, with physical buttons and door handles.
Chevrolet offers an impressive list of technological features available on the Suburban. Two 12.6-inch touchscreens are available as part of a rear-seat entertainment system. Other available features include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, navigation, and a 10-speaker audio system.
When it comes to safety features, the Suburban has a long list of standard safety features. Forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane departure warning, rear seat warning, and parking sensors are standard. Available safety features include blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, head-up display, surround-view parking camera, and rearview mirrors.
It's a good list of general features, but we wish adaptive cruise control was standard on an SUV.starts at $54,495with aim
Bold and objective.Making a great SUV look good is a difficult task. Chevrolet's designers did a good job because the Suburban is a beautiful passenger car. With its blocky styling, distinctive grille, and sleek headlights, the Suburban underscores why most people choose not to buy a minivan.
The interior is not as good as the exterior as functionality is prioritized over design. We think it's a good compromise, but the Suburban shares an overall interior design that matches the brand's trucks. Cabin materials range from decent to luxurious, which is to be expected, but the High Country certainly doesn't come cheap, starting at $74,990.
Final thoughts.By combining the interior of a minivan with the rugged design of a truck, the 2022 Chevrolet Suburban looks better than most trucks. Sure, it's got a roomy interior, plenty of tech, and powerful engines, but the Suburban also has a comfortable ride and plush seats. Of course, people who aren't comfortable driving something that is almost 19 feet long and consumes fuel at an alarming rate should consider another vehicle.
The Ford Expedition Max is the Suburban's biggest competitor. It has an equally spacious cabin, an efficient twin-turbo V6, and impressive towing capacity. EITHERJeep WagonerIt has some really unconventional features, is incredibly off-road capable, and is a refined cruiser.
